Was born as a concept after the God has died (c). This period goes hand in hand with times when science/art/culture took the predominant position in people's life. People start to search for meaning since their set of believes where no longer driven by the religion.
This led to the search of meaning of life. Which is the definition of the existentialism.
Albert Camus once said: Searching for the meaning of life is worthless. There is no meaning of life. To that's an absurd. And there are three ways to face this situation: to perform a suicide and end life, to lose the fight with an absurd or to perform riot against it.
